Woolton Hill is a popular village lying south-west of the market town of Newbury. Together with the adjoining villages of Highclere, Broad Layings and East End, it forms an extended community that is surrounded by attractive countryside. Within the village, there is a small store/post office, doctor’s surgery, well-regarded primary school, church, village hall with recreation ground, tennis club and pub.
To the south are the North Wessex Downs with their rolling hills and scenic walks including The Wayfarers Walk, and to the north The Chase, a delightful area of woodland owned by The National Trust – both are popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers.
Best known for its racing, Newbury also offers a welcoming town centre with many cafes and restaurants and for shopping there are independent stores, national brands and specialist markets. The Watermill Theatre is one of Britain’s best regional theatres producing West End transfer performances as well as self-produced comedies.
The market town of Andover lies to the south and is on the border of the beautiful Test Valley. It is well served with supermarkets, shops and markets as well as excellent road and rail links.
